Michael E. Colwell

P.E. President – Colwell & Associates Engineering

As President of Colwell & Associates, Inc., Michael Colwell oversees the operations of an electrical and mechanical consulting engineering firm employing approximately 15 staff members. With over 50 years of experience in consulting, design engineering, and project management, Mr. Colwell has led projects for industrial, municipal, and institutional clients. His primary expertise is in the design and operation of electrical power facilities, including substations, transmission, distribution, generation, energy storage, and system protection. Project work has included generating plants, battery energy facilities, petrochemical plants, water and wastewater treatment plants, and large institutional complexes — encompassing both new construction and system expansions. He is also experienced in systems studies, short circuit and relay coordination analysis, specification writing, cost estimating, and equipment testing and troubleshooting. Earlier in his career, Mr. Colwell served as Staff Engineer in the Energy Systems Planning Department of the City Public Service Board in San Antonio, Texas, conducting site studies for power plants and energy centers across the city.
